He Cures

COVID-19 and other pandemics showed us how vulnerable we are as human beings. We witnessed ‘mass sickness’ and ‘mass deaths’ because of the pandemic. Daily, we listened to statistics on the number of people who died. However, we paid little attention to the greater number of people who escaped death narrowly. Many people who were infected experienced miraculous healing. Amid gloomy situations, we saw the power and presence of God who “cured many” (Mark 3:10). Jesus demonstrated the power and love of God when he saved and healed people who were in miserable conditions. Even today He “heals the brokenhearted and binds their wounds” (Psalm 147:3). We should talk to him about our physical, emotional, and spiritual sickness and pains to receive healing. An African proverb says, “He who conceals his disease cannot expect to be cured.” We can experience the healing power of Jesus through faith and we can rest assured that Jesus constantly heals our broken hearts, bodies, and spirits, and liberates us from the grasp of evil forces. We can also touch Him and experience His healing power through a consistent prayer life and we can enjoy an intimate union with Him through the Holy Communion. C.S. Lewis author of “Problem of Evil” wrote: “God whispers to us in our pleasures, speaks to us in our consciences, but shouts in our pains.” Do we know how much God loves, cures, and cares for us?
